Your Body is Begging You to Slow Down—Here’s How to Listen

I used to be in environments that made stress seem like a badge of honor. If I wasn’t overwhelmed, I wasn’t working hard enough.

But the truth? Chronic stress is not just exhausting—it’s disorienting. It distances you from your joy, your clarity, your health, and even your purpose.

You don’t need a 2-week vacation to reclaim your peace. You need a daily return to presence.

Here’s what works for me:

• Stepping into sunlight before checking my phone.

• Putting one hand on my heart and breathing slowly until my nervous system catches up.

• Creating small moments of sacred pause, even if it’s just a minute between meetings.

Stress is sneaky. But so is healing.

It starts when you say, “I choose ease today.”

You can heal and reduce chronic stress right at home.

Inside my new At-Home Retreat guide, I share:

• A checklist for all of your at-home retreat needs

• A realistic daily retreat plan

• A quick exercise you can do anytime to build self-awareness and grow

And it’s free for subscribers.

Because your peace is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.

Try this quick meditation for instant stress relief:

Get into a comfortable seated or lying down position. Close your eyes.

Inhale deeply through your nose… and exhale slowly through your mouth.

With each breath, allow your shoulders to drop and your jaw to relax.

Say to yourself:

“I am safe in this moment.”

“I am allowed to rest.”

“I do not have to hold it all together.”

Imagine a soft, golden light pouring over you, washing away stress.

Now, place one hand on your chest and one on your belly.

Inhale: “Peace is mine.”

Exhale: “I release what I can’t control.”

Sit in stillness for a few more breaths, then gently open your eyes.
